stamping

Yesterday, for my pretend job I had to design some stationary notes. I went with some simple organic shapes when carving the stamps and got a little crazy with the actual stamping, but it can get addicting (and messy!).

Speaking of the likes, this book looks good.

anniversary of sorts

Yesterday Tony and I celebrated a decade of being together. It's the one we count, more so than our wedding one. Our history actually goes back seventeen years ago when we were best friends as teenagers, both secretly in love with the other but afraid to tell the other. Well, ten years ago is when we finally admitted it :).

The above photo is of us, maybe 7 years ago? Crappy photo but fun times.
Happy weekend everyone!

New shirt

Made this shirt with some knit material I found while cleaning out my studio this weekend. I'm kind of giggling now that I see it in photo form, a bit wonkier than I thought. Oh well, new shirt.

oh craft

I found these black doilies at the art/craft store the other day. I had visualized them in some framing capacity but wasn't sure exactly how. After some thought, I came up with my plan. Using only materials I had at home I sewed up this pillow for our bed. And then I stepped back and worried, is this too crafty ? There's was no gluing whatsoever so I don't think it's too crafty.
I like it though and Tony does too, especially since it's obviously little creature adaptations of us, sleeping soundly. Obviously.

some sparrows

Last night my sister Sam came over to hang out and eat some food. I like her.
Thought I'd show some of her Christmas gifts from me before it's too far away. I made the sparrow shirt using contact paper (cut out in the shape of the birds) and acrylic paint. This technique has always worked well for me. The shroom necklace is painted wood and the vest I made using my own pattern*. I really like how it all looks together, especially the Samantha part.

* Outright lie. I bought it.

It's here!

Well, it's Christmas Eve and my mom took Enzo this morning to make a Gingerbread House and give me some time to shop for food for tonight. The shoppings done, most gifts are wrapped and the Christmas music is about to start blastin'. I'm starting to get excited...hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

(Above are the lil' gifts I made for neighbors, co-workers and all the stopping-by company. Angels are not really my forte but that's what the people like!)

Terrarium

I've always wanted to make a terrarium, complete with moss and now I have! It was kind of a spur-of-the moment thing. We were at the dog park when I spotted some moss. Later on while Tony had Enzo at a movie and I was cleaning up my studio (amongst other things) I remembered this glass container (which had many previous lives: fish bowl, underwater plant garden, planter, and for the longest time stood neglected outside) and quickly put this together. No planning, just grabbing. I really like it though and will try my best to keep the moss alive, maybe put in another clay guy...we'll see.

new eyes

Fixed a couple of eye problems this week. The monkey was puppy-chewed and the cat was baby-sucked (yes, Enzo actually sucked the eyes off this little stuffed cat when he was a babe--I just recently re-found it). They are both sentimental to me so I splurged for the costly eye surgery.

(P.S. The cat is sitting atop a soy sauce bottle--that's how small it is! She was given to me when I was leetle and somehow I've managed not to loose her, for long anyway.)

Another Frankly

Two years back, for Enzo's first birthday, I made him a stuffed bear as big as Enzo himself. As usual, I didn't have a pattern just an idea. As my friends and family know, I am a self-taught, awful sewer with a decent sense of dimension. And although my sewing projects usually turn out pretty decent looking, I always picture a good sewer looking over my shoulder, completely appalled by my lack of knowledge and patience. Just shocked.
Back to the bear: Enzo named him "Frankly". Last year, one of my best girlfriends got pregnant so I made her a miniature Frankly. Enzo like that one so much, he got one too. Well, this year another bestest girlfriend got pregnant so she is getting one too (I just finished). Hers is the little guy on the left whose massive deformities are well hidden by big Frankley's paw. Thanks big Frankley's paw!

stockings

stockings

I thought I'd put up this picture of our Christmas stockings I made this past December as an introduction of my style and my family. We have 2 cats, as shown but unfortunately no vultures. I have been posting blogs on myspace from time to time as a way of keeping distant (& close) friends updated on what we're up to and some of my current projects. I, like many of my favorite artsy/crafty bloggers, always have my hands busy with something. I've always sort of pictured having a "real" blog and now that we've bought our first house (so exciting!) and are mostly settled I thought I'd give it a whirl.

I discovered Loobylu over a year ago and it was like my gateway drug into the world of cool & creative people. I, probably like most of you spend way to much time checking out other peoples blogs so I thought I might as well give a little. I'm hoping to post one a week, so here goes.......I'll try to make it interesting.....
