making stuff

I remember when I was little, making little things to sell in my make-believe store. I bet my kid-self would be pretty excited knowing I would still be doing that so many years later.
(Etsy is pretty cool that way.)

No hurricane for us!!

UPDATE: I deleted the post where I was all scardey-cat about the hurricane. It's very wind and wet today, but that's all. I am glad .

OH! I did want to say thank you all for the wonderful comments and support! It has really meant a lot to hear all your kind words :)

Etsy Shop !!!!

Well, at long last I've finally opened the etsy shop I've been working towards for quite some time. The same day I uploaded all the pictures and "set it up", my stuff was spotted by Tara (one of the super cool etsy folks)and picked to be their Fresh Shop of the week ! This is easily my most exciting post ever :)
I'll write more about my pieces and my thoughts behind them later, but for now....GO CHECK IT OUT and let me know what you think.

Lunchtime visit

Today Enzo and I went to visit Tony for lunch. It's really a beautiful long drive into the country, but Tony's so sick of it.

I found those etchings I had mentioned

Last week I found those etchings I had mentioned in this post. Having done these about a decade ago, I'd forgotten that it was a 2-part print. I believe our Printmaking teacher was encouraging us to explore various techniques as well see how much working a zinc plate could take. The top print was done using both etching techniques such as aquatint and drypoint. For the next one, I had to burnish the entire plate down and produce another image on the same plate. I think the effect is an interesting one, allowing a bit of the first image to play it's ghostly part in the finished image.

And like my friend Anne, just thinking back to the process makes me long for the tactile process of making prints.
