postcards

I used to be pretty good at making/sending postcards out to my favorites, years ago (remember?). I made these yesterday (except for middle-left:Jordan Crane and bottom-left:William Johnson) in an attempt to rekindle the postcard love to my far-away friends.

Pet Peeve

Illustration Friday's topic is "pet peeves". Well, I guess after thinking for a while, one of mine is when Tony throws his socks as our cat Indy (appearance changed here). Not that he throws them at her, that they usually stay there for a while. It's probably one of her pet peeves though.

I kinda stopped at an early point in this, as Tony and are about to go on a date--it's my birthday today and we're going out for Thai! :)

I found this one while digging through boxes of old photos the other morning. It's of my youngest sister in one of the masks Tony and I made for Halloween, back before Enzo (about 5 or 6 years ago). These particular masks were mounted on welders visors so we could flip them up while drinking pints at the pub (after years previous of having to keep taking our-sometimes gigantic-paper mache heads off to sip our pints. the torture).

At long last, I have my composter. We had great intentions of building one, just still hadn't gotten around to it. And so a few weeks ago I went and bought one. Finally, a place for my scraps and the beginnings of some rich soil for a future vegetable garden.
Enzo made it his club house for the first couple of days (before use, obviously) but now he is proud to be in charge of all things related to the composter, making daily deliveries with his faithful assistant Clemetine.

seeds

Sometimes I like to pretend that I'm a worker at an awesome company where I get to design all kinds of things. Yesterday, my pretend boss said my assignment was some seed packets and (as usual) the client trusts me completely and will go with what I like best. I guess the one at the top is my favorite since I had to pick.
In reality our Orchid Tree just dropped a bunch of seed pods all over our back yard so Enzo and I made a project out of collecting some seeds. I thought it'd be nice to give them away in nice little packets. I really got into the package design, creating a dozen or so and above are my favorites. Only after making all these did I do some research and discover, thankfully, that the seeds readily propagate. phew.

A couple of cards laying around on my computer desk. The top is a recently re-found bookmark thingy. I had xeroxed the image from a dictionary ( i think) because I liked it. I then laminated it onto the back of an obituary bookmark (back when i worked at the funeral home). I love those drawings. The bottom card is a Christmas present from my Tony--20/20 club membership with Fantagraphics Books. He says, "to make you buy more comic books". I like him.
