a new year

My mom is watching the bear-child so Tony and I will be lucky enough to be spending some time together tonight (a date!).
Happy New Year!
Hope everyone has a great 2008.

Soar

Illustration Friday's theme this week is "Soar".

$ 50

Yesterday I was lucky enough to get some time to shop at my favorite vintage-y store. With my $50 (Christmas money) I got all of the above. A triple-layer dry goods container (that I had seen & loved way back in March-so happy it was still there), working Fisher Price radio, condiment set, pretty/ugly chair and (not shown) some children's books for Enzo. I did good.

It's here!

Well, it's Christmas Eve and my mom took Enzo this morning to make a Gingerbread House and give me some time to shop for food for tonight. The shoppings done, most gifts are wrapped and the Christmas music is about to start blastin'. I'm starting to get excited...hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!

(Above are the lil' gifts I made for neighbors, co-workers and all the stopping-by company. Angels are not really my forte but that's what the people like!)

Backwards

The Illustration Friday topic for this week is "backwards". I've had this concept in my head for a while now and it seemed natural that someone might be backing up or going backwards when confronting this particular area of a forest.
I must say I really like this whole visual idea and hope to take this into 3D sometime in the future or at least work more with it in some capacity.

don't shoot

I don't usually post pics of myself, but this one's just too cool. My sister Sami took it and I don't think we even knew about the "gun man" until we saw it later.
The plan was to do the FAMILY PICTURE (this one was just her doing a test to see if the curtains were too busy) and we actually did get some decent ones. I just started to go into the horrible details but I'll spare you all and say Samantha was the most patient, sweetest, maniac-putting-up with photographer a sister could ever want. Thank you Sam!

his animals

Shortly after setting up our Christmas trees, Enzo came out with all his animals and made it into the woodland scene above (which I love). Soon after the dinosaurs invaded. Boys.

sneaky sneaky

While I've been working on some pet portrait commissions, I've been sneaking little moments to work on these. They were supposed to be some sort of Christmas ornament (in theory), but a girls got to have some fun. While I do love Christmas, the aesthetic isn't always very exciting.

And onward we go....

it begins

"Wow, what beautiful holiday photos," you're probably thinking. I know, I know.
Last night we went to our towns' annual lighting of the tree, complete with a visit from the real Santa. It was lots of fun (really) as this year they had a small sampling of classical ballet, a musician from the local symphony playing Christmas songs and some cuuute kids caroling on a make-shift stage (and doing their "synchronized" flail-y arm moments, super cute). And then, believe it or not, it actually snowed*! Enzo asked me to tell Santa and Mrs. Claus that he would like a new green marker for Christmas and I did. It really was a great official kick-off to the season.
Once we had gotten home and Tony had uploaded the pictures, I saw how funny (and violent) our otherwise joyous time looked in our pictures. Thought I'd share.
And then today we went to watch the Christmas parade. (I really love parades and High School/Middle School marching bands. LOVE them.) Good times, no pictures.
